OpTic Formal Alleged Earnings

Former COD World Champion Matthew “FormaL” Piper recently responded to a Twitter post claiming he made $8.5 million on Twitch.

The stream was tagged by a random post that made no mention of the time period during which he purportedly made that much money. Some of FormaL’s followers assume the post refers to his total Twitch earnings since September 2019.

However, based on FormaL’s platform statistics, earning such a sum since September 2019 is improbable. In response to the message, the streamer quipped that he wishes the claims were real.

OpTic FormaL took home the 2017 COD World Championship and was dubbed the tournament’s MVP. The former esports pro, who also won an X Games gold medal, announced his retirement in August 2021. NRG Esports owns OpTic Chicago, which he won the world title with, and is led by CEO Andy Miller and OpTic Gaming owner Hector “H3CZ” Rodriguez.

Regardless, earning $8.5 million would imply a massive amount of Twitch users, considering the lowest tier subscription costs exactly $4.99 each month. Making about $8.5 million in this scenario would necessitate OpTic FormaL having the highest subscriber count on the platform for an extended period of time.

FormaL, on the other hand, now has little more than 3.5K Twitch members, with an all-time high of 21,166 in October 2019. As a result, the streamer is unlikely to have gained that much money via Twitch, even if he wishes he had.
