OBS Studio 27.2 Release

OBS Studio has received a new version that adds additional support for a range of devices as well as other useful features. However, the prior version’s expiration date is included in the upgrade, so Twitch streamers will need to update as soon as possible or risk being left behind.

OBS announced in a post on Feb. 15 that prior versions of the program will be deprecated on Monday, Feb. 28 with the release of OBS Studio version 27.2. OBS did not make this decision. Instead, it’s due to Twitch’s discontinuation of support for the v5 API, which prior versions relied on.

Twitch will only support version 27.2 after that date, as well as any subsequent patches that use the new API.

Along with a slew of bug improvements, OBS Studio 27.2 adds a slew of new features to the software, including support for AJA’s device lineup. New blend modes have also been added, as well as a browser refresh hotkey and a lot more. On Windows, users can now hide OBS from their capture, which is intended to eliminate infinite feedback loops.

If you already have OBS installed, you should update it either from within the app or on the project’s GitHub page.
