New Harassment Policy Issued By Twitch

The Amazon owned streaming platform Twitch now offers an American video live streaming service operated by Twitch Interactive. It was introduced in June 2011 as a spin-off of the general-interest streaming platform Justin.tv. There are some rules and policies made to keep the streaming platform safe for everyone.

Twitch recently came under fire because of DMCA issues and suspensions, leaving streamers and fans confused. Twitch has assured that they will make the platform safer for everyone after a series of abuse allegations surfaced. The platform has been cracking down on hateful content, and now they are taking new steps to make the platform better. Twitch posted out on twitter a blog post stating that they are updating their Hateful Conduct and Harassment policy to make Twitch a safer and more inclusive place for everyone.

According to the post, some emotes combinations, even displaying the Confederate flag, are now banned from being used. Twitch also detailed its changes to what it considers harassment. Additionally, on the sexual harassment front, Twitch is also introducing some changes to combat it and gave it its own category with a low-tolerance policy. According to Twitch, they are making these changes now because people seem to continue to experience a disproportionate amount of harassment and abuse online.
