Ludwig Shocked

YouTube streamer Ludwig Ahgren was caught by surprise when he saw the new ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ movie available in its entirety during the ongoing copyright issue on Twitch.

Spider-Man: No Way Home was a massive box office success, grossing $600 million domestically and ranking among the top ten highest-grossing movies of all time. The excitement for this film was palpable, and Spider-Man fans are still looking for ways to see it online. One method, it turns out, has been available for more than a week on Twitch.

Ludwig Ahgren, a former Twitch streamer who eventually became a YouTube star, discovered this when studying the current reaction meta trending on the internet broadcasting platform during a stream on January 3. Recently, a slew of streamers have begun watching television programs with their audiences, most notably xQc watching Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares, generating speculation over whether copyright companies will pursue broadcasters at some time.

“Eventually, there’s a level of negligence where companies might start coming after them,” Ludwig stated before demonstrating that Spider-Man: No Way Home is available to stream in its entirety on Twitch. He didn’t identify the channel’s name to avoid causing a stir, but he did show a piece of the video as proof that it had been posted as a VOD.

He didn’t identify the channel’s name to avoid causing a stir, but he did show a piece of the video as proof that it had been posted as a VOD. He explained; “I think this is the beast that’s getting poked at. Eventually, like on YouTube, it causes trouble.”

Ahgren compared Twitch’s current situation to YouTube’s copyright structure, as though the rival streaming network is on the verge of a similar fate if it doesn’t act quickly. Ludwig’s broadcast on the topic was, ironically, taken down due to a copyright infringement. Regardless, it appears that Twitch is more eager than ever to embrace the TV meta, with a possible collaboration between xQc and Gordon Ramsey recently being mentioned.
