Ludwig Announces Melee and Ultimate Tournament

Ludwig Aghren hasn’t forgotten his roots, the Smash community, despite becoming one of the most popular streamers in the world and breaking Twitch’s all-time subscription record during his subathon.

Ludwig went on The Stanz Show on the same day he announced his new YouTube Gaming exclusivity deal, which will begin on November 30th, to discuss his decision and disclose enormous ambitions for the Smash scene. In short, Ludwig intends to stage the largest tournament in Melee and Ultimate history.

Ludwig stated to Nathan Stanz that moving to YouTube will give him more financial flexibility because he’ll have a stable income instead of relying on subscriptions and ad views, which can be stressful for streamers. With this in mind, Ludwig has the freedom to help in the advancement of the Smash community, which has long been overlooked by Nintendo, who have even harmed the competitive scene’s development.

“In 2022 I will make the biggest Smash tournament of all time in both entrants and prize pool for Melee and Ultimate. This will probably cost 1 million dollars.”

Ludwig would subsequently reveal that while he was debating whether to migrate to YouTube or stay with Twitch, he had a second subathon planned solely to support this event. “I was genuinely thinking of giving up a month of my life so I had the resources to throw away a million dollars and have it not be stupid. Being with YouTube, I can just do that.”

Of course, no specifics about the tournament were revealed, but given Ludwig’s enthusiasm for Smash, we’re confident it’ll be a spectacular event.
