League Of Legends Top Spot On Twitch

In March 2022, League of Legends reclaimed its position as the most popular game on Twitch, although only by a little margin.

The Elden Ring craze is still going strong, while Valorant and Fortnite are catching up to GTA V’s sluggish decline.

At the end of February, Elden Ring was taking names on Twitch as the hit FromSoftware title dominated the airways. It was the most popular game for a long time, shattering records left and right. In March 2022, that expansion hasn’t really slowed down, but the streaming platform’s old heavyweights are still at the forefront. League of Legends and GTA V remained strong throughout March after Lost Ark jumped to the top with 146 million hours viewed in February.

According to SullyGnome, the former recaptured its title as Twitch’s most popular game, with 138.5 million hours viewed, up 2.9 percent from the previous month. Elden Ring, on the other hand, beat GTA V over the course of the month, gaining 131.6 million hours to GTA V’s 127.9 million. The biggest story to emerge from all of this is the dramatic drop in Lost Ark’s popularity. The Amazon Games product was hailed as the MMO that may dethrone World of Warcraft, but it dropped behind the Blizzard staple following a 71.9 percent loss in popularity to just 41 million viewers.

World of Warcraft reached 55.9 million hours viewed in March, boosted by the recent Shadowlands Race to World First, which lasted 18 days. It remains to be seen whether it can maintain its lead now that the race is completed. Other notable increases include Fortnite’s 18.9% increase to 72.8 million viewers, which is likely due to the introduction of no-build mode, which gives streamers an incentive to come back. Former CS:GO star Tarik ‘tarik’ Celik led Valorant to a 24 percent increase in viewers to 110 million. Just Chatting is still Twitch’s most popular category, with approximately 260 million hours of viewing time for the month, nearly twice League of Legends’ stats.
