Dr Disrespect And YouTube

Dr Disrespect And YouTube

Dr. Disrespect, a legendary streamer, called YouTube’s clipping mechanism and gifted subs technology “outdated” in comparison to Twitch.

Since jumping ship to the Google-owned platform after being mysteriously permanently banned on Twitch in summer 2020, Dr Disrespect has become one of YouTube’s most popular streamers. Since then, the two-time has been outspoken about how YouTube needs to improve in order to compete with Twitch, and he’s decided to make his point once more on social media.

Doc moved in after seeing YouTube’s Head of Gaming Ryan ‘Fwiz’ Wyatt discussing NFTs with 100 Thieves co-owner Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop on the platform.

The two-time rolled up and completely derailed the discourse with some good old violence, speed, and momentum as Fwiz and CouRage were picking each other’s brains about NFTs and if they were a smart investment. Doc responded to CouRage’s request to speak privately with Fwiz over the holidays, “Or you can just call me on the flip phone to talk about the future of NFT’s and gaming. That way Fwiz can focus on ‘gifted memberships’ and ‘clips’ technology from 2009.”

YouTube’s clip feature is still relatively new, and it isn’t quite as advanced as competitor Twitch’s. Furthermore, YouTube only recently revealed that gifted subs and raids will be available in 2022.

Fwiz, the ever gentleman, responded, stating that they had to first establish YouTube as the world’s largest gaming platform before implementing those capabilities.

After Doc accused YouTube of being “underdeveloped,” YouTube agreed to meet with the 6’6 gaming behemoth in May to discuss the platform’s future, but it’s unclear what came of the discussion.

In any case, 2022 is shaping up to be an eventful year in the streaming battles, as more Twitch streamers migrate to YouTube’s rival platform, and both companies strive to improve their present features while introducing new ones.
